Submit Your Manuscript to Cynren Press

Traditional Publication

We like humans.

As a boutique publisher of the human story, we’re drawn to work that reveals, reimagines, or reframes the histories that have shaped us. If your manuscript deepens our understanding of the lived experience—past or present—we invite you to submit to Cynren Press.

Grounded in history. Curated with care.

Cynren Press is an award-winning traditional publisher that engages history with a long view. We publish from both privileged and underrepresented perspectives, with the intent to place them in conversation. At Cynren, we believe that every history has something to contribute to the shared human story.

Cynren Press acquires a small number of books each year for our traditional list.

The majority of the books we publish are selected for this track.

These are books that align with our editorial vision, our seasonal planning needs, and the specific categories we are actively developing across our imprints.

  • We look for writing with a clear voice, thoughtful craft, emotional or intellectual depth, and a sense of purpose. We gravitate toward narrative nonfiction, memoir, historical and world fiction, and projects with strong woman-centered or cultural themes.

If you’re unsure whether your book fits one of these descriptions, you’re welcome to submit—sometimes we just like stuff.

Cynren Press is currently acquiring TRADITIONAL TITLES for 2028 and beyond.

READ THE AUTHOR FAQS

Because our list is intentionally limited, we select manuscripts for traditional publication based on both excellence and fit—voice, craft, purpose, and also timing, list balance, and editorial direction. Many exceptional manuscripts simply aren’t the right match for our traditional list at a given moment, even when they align with our sensibility as a press.

When a manuscript resonates deeply with our vision but isn’t a match for our traditional list’s constraints, we may invite the author to consider our Stewardship Pathway to publication. SP allows us to champion books we love—books we would not be able to publish traditionally due to list size, timing, or financial limitations—while maintaining the same editorial and production standards.
